INTERVIEW WITH THE FASHION DESIGNER MONICA NECHITA

Reporter: We are talking to Mrs. Monica Nechita (Indolean), fashion designer, the organizer of the Festive Ceremony of Fashion Design Graduates of the "TUDOR JARDA" Folk School of Arts.  How does it feel to be the organizer of this first edition?

M.N.: It feels very good. It's something entirely new to me and - nevertheless - I feel accomplished.  This is the first edition. I am aware of the fact that we had so much work to do and I have a lot to learn for the second edition. I will know a lot more. I will know what to ask for. It is very difficult. It is very difficult to gather people around you  who would be willing to contribute, to help you.

R: As fashion designer, could you tell uas a few things about your collections?

M.N.: Yes. O have a few personal collections and a few participationsat some rather prestigious fashion festivals, like the Summer Fashion Festival with my "CITADINI" Collection in 2004, where I had the great chance of meeting Catalin Botezatu and presenting on the same stage with Catalin Botezatu, Rita Muresan, Laura Olteanu, Mihai Albu. That was my great chance! I also have another collection called "METAMORPH" (2007), my branding collection, which I presented at the Male Fashion Week Cluj last December. I also have a few other personal collection that are smaller in terms of the quality of the events where I presented them.

R: Tonight you are the coordinator of most of the collections

M.N.: Of all the collections, except that of our guest whom I thank for coming

R: Do these collections follow the fashion trends?

M.N.: Yes, because this is how I coordinated them from thefor nightwear, daywear, events) start, so that the girls would know how to fit their creations into the present fashion trend (colours and lines) and in accordance with the characters that they are being addressed to (dressesfor daywear, nightwear, all kinds of events) and tune them to the current fashiontendencies. I even coordinated them for SPRING//SUMMER 2010 and AUTUMN/WINTER 2010-2011.

R: Thank you.

TIFF 2010 - MEMORIES OF A FILM FESTIVAL

The 9th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (May 28 - June 6 2010, Cluj-Napoca, Romania is over. For someone who likes films and cinematography, it was full of flavour. The beauty of the festival was that I could see it in all its angles: as a volunteer, as a reporter and as a mere spectator.

How did it all start? Back in mid-April 2010 I received the accreditation for Cluj Fashion Week. Than I filmed some other events.

I get every week some free magazines where the city's cultural events are listed. So by the end of April the were advertising the event "Let's go digital".  So I clicked on the website - it was the TIFF website and there I saw a section entitled accreditations. So I completed the form for accreditations and sent it. The deadline was the 17th of May.

And then while I was browsing through the site I found a section for Volunteers  and I completed that form too. I thought that out of two apllications, one should be allowed.

When I received an email announcing me that I was accepted as a volunteer for the 9th edition of TIFF. That made me very happy. Now it didn't really matter if I get the accreditation or not. But than I received another email anouncing me that I got the accreditation as well. So what was I supposed to do now? Turn one down and accept the other? Turn both down or accept them both?

I accepted them both.

As a TIFF volunteer I took park at the filming of the TIFF 2010 SPOT.

Then when TIFF started and I got the accreditation badge I pulled out my camera and started filming.

Two days later my volunteer bracelet and my badge were taken back. That hurt a little, but it has only made me stronger. You know that saying - "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. I found solidarity in the people who were around me and whom I accidently met at the Opening Festivity. I was encouraged to write film chronicles. And it helped a lot.

The next three days I went by invitation to see TIFF projections. And then I stopped.

All these three experiences were full of meaning. For a forever-on beating heart.

So, thank you, TIFF! Thank you, all the people I met at TIFF!

AVON THE BOOK OF LOVE AND MY AVON EXPERIENCE

Today I would like to talk to you about Avon - the Book of Love, written by Alice Nastase which celebrates the 13 years of Avon Romania.

You may be wondering why I have chosen this book. Because Avon is also my story.

In the following line I will talk about my beginning in Avon and about what it means to me.

It all began in 2004, when I found out that a coleague of mine from the Faculty of Psychology in Cluj was selling Avon. I became curious, I wanted to test the products and I wanted to become a sale representative myself. So she referred me to her coordinator, Ildi, who was a very nice person. I met with her at Casa Tineretului in Cluj, when they were launching a new broshure. We talked, we established an appoinment when to sign the contract and be declaired an Avon representative.

It was awesome. The first few months in Avon brought me the exact knowledge that I lacked - how to use make-up, lipstick, perfumes etc. I attended a course on Beauty and Business and I received a diploma signed by Srdjan Mjuskovik, the first General Manager of Avon Romania.

Some of the most beautiful events I took part in as an Avon representative were the Pink March (part of the crusade against breast cancer), the lanch of the Christian Lacroix LE ROUGE & LE NOIR and other beautiful events.

And now - six years later - I am still selling Avon. Because this is a company that I believe in.

TIF 2010 1ST DAY - LA PIVELLINA FILM REVIEW

On May 28, on the first day of the 9th edition of the Transilvania Film Festival, one of the projections was theat of the film "La Pivellina", an Italian-Austrian co-production, made by Tizza Covi & Raimer Frimmel.

The film is absolutely shocking. The story begins with a woman who find a little girl abandoned in a park, while looking for her dog. She takes the girl in and takes care of her, with her husband and her relatives.

Sad but true, this film may be considered a chronicle of things happening in today's society. The cases of mothers abandoning their children at an early age are increasing.  One can hear about them on the news everyday.

The film appeals to the viewer's sensitivity and feelings. I believe that the creaters of this movie wanted to highlight the fact that small children are like angels and they are joy. They should be taken care of by their mothers after they are born, not abandoned.

FESTIVE FILM PROJECTIONS AT TIFF

The Festive Film Projections at TIFF enchanted the audience. In the lines tha follow we will present you the impressions made by two of them - state of the art films.

The Festival Film Projection (Proiectiile de Gala) from TIFF 2010 were held at Auditorium Maximum on Kogalniceanu Street in Cluj-Napoca.

The first one we are going to talk about was held on May 31 2010 and was called "13 Most Beautiful Songs... a Soundtrack for Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests". The room was filled with people. The whole show was an outstanding audiovisual combination: a perfect dialogue between images, music and colour.

Filled with many symbols and motions, the motion pictures combined delicately with the live songs performed by the well-known Romanian player and jazz composer Lucian Ban and Mat Maneri(SUA), Silent Strike (România) and Dan Băsu (România).

The excelent audio-video performance illustrated all human moods, using symbols such as leaves, birds - illustrated the passing of time, rendering the audience a calmness in their heart.

Another wonderful festive projection was made on June 1 2010 - the projection of the Lebanon film - a story of the war between Israel and Lebannon, portrayed in the hearts of three soldiers working in a tank.

The whole action of the movie is centered around their actions and reactions, with an important accent on the psychological impact of war.

Feeling are beautifully rendered - there are two scenes that have made a great impression on the audience: the first one is when a camel is filmed fallen down and the camera zooms in on her eyes while a tear is coming out and the second one is when a building is being bombarded and there is woman who awakens in the heart of soldiers the feeling of love so she is let go.

Also impressiove are the scenes from the beginning and the end of the film - it begins in a sunflower field and it ends in a sunflower field where the tank with our heroes stopped.

Remarkable is the power of the crew to illustrate the human side of war. Absolutely brilliant!

NATIONAL PREMIERE OF "KINO CARAVAN" - Melania Ursu: "Let's say good bye to our past with a smile on our face"

On May 29 there was in Cluj-Napoca at Cinema Republica the national premiere of the "Kino Caravan" film, directed by Titus Muntean, starring Mircea Diaconu, Dorian Boguta, Iulia Lumanare and Melania Ursu.

Melania Ursu is a famous Romanian actress, whose comeback in this movie is quite spectacular, after having starred in Hecuba by Euripide last summer. Her words from the speech at the premiere carry with them a very subtle significance.

"Let's say good-bye to the past with a smile on our face". She also thanked the audience for coming to see the film.

Has anyone wondered what lies behind her words?

Sometime in November last year, while I was the producer of Bogdan Eduard's "Opposite Direction" Show (Klub TV, Cluj-Napoca) she was a guest in our show. The debate of the show was that she had been "thrown out" of the school, not being able to teach the acting job to students anymore, enriched with her experience.

It hurt her so much to see that her career was shaking and that her merrits were not recognized anymore.

But now she is happy and excited and looking towards the future.
